August 3, 2026 – In a continued effort to encourage sporting excellence and youth engagement, the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, Poonch, in collaboration with Khelo India Coaches, organised a Special Volleyball Competition at the Sports Stadium Poonch under the flagship ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative.
The event was conducted under the guidance of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, and the supervision of Mr. Bashir Ahmed Bakshi, Divisional Sports Officer, Jammu. The initiative aimed to strengthen grassroots sports, foster healthy competition, and provide young athletes with a platform to showcase their talent.
The tournament featured separate competitions for boys and girls, with two teams participating in each category. The players demonstrated remarkable determination, teamwork, and sporting spirit throughout the matches, drawing enthusiastic support from a large gathering of spectators.
Asian Lacrosse Championship gold medallist Ms. Abhilove Kour attended the girls’ competition as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Shakeel Ahmed, Assistant Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department, graced the boys’ competition as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, both guests praised the efforts of the organisers and highlighted the importance of sports in shaping disciplined, confident, and healthy youth. They encouraged young athletes to continue pursuing excellence and make the most of the opportunities being created through government-backed sporting initiatives.
To acknowledge the enthusiasm and commitment of the participants, refreshments were distributed to all players following the conclusion of the matches.
The event was supervised by Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed, In-Charge, Sports Stadium Poonch, with the active support of Mr. Ram Prakash (Supervisor), Mr. Navjot Singh (Hockey Coach), Mr. Rohit Sharma (Boxing Coach), Ms. Richa Bali (Volleyball Coach), Mr. Ameet Singh (Football Coach), and Mr. Owias Ud Din (Badminton Coach), who ensured the smooth conduct of the competition.
The successful organisation of the tournament reaffirmed the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council’s commitment to promoting grassroots sports and nurturing young talent across the Union Territory through the ‘My Youth My Pride’ initiative.
