Bollywood celebrities are set to join forces with cricket for a cause as the fourth season of the Restaurant Cricket League prepares to bring together entertainment, sport and a nationwide fight against hunger, positioning the tournament as far more than a celebrity exhibition match.
At the heart of RCL Season 4 lies a simple but ambitious model: 10 Runs equals 100 Meals. Every ten runs scored across the tournament will translate directly into meals for people in need, organised in association with the Hunger Free Bharat campaign. The mechanism gives fans a reason to follow the scoreline beyond the game itself, since every boundary and single carries a tangible social outcome alongside its cricketing value.
The fourth edition will be held from October 22 to 25 at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium in New Delhi, with sixteen matches spread across the four days. The first three days will host twelve league-stage matches, four each day, starting at 10 AM and running through fixtures at 1:30 PM, 5 PM and 8 PM. Organisers estimate roughly 300 runs per match, which would put each game’s contribution at around 3,000 meals, meaning the opening day alone could generate close to 12,000 meals if the projections hold.
The meal count will be tracked live during matches and verified by Hunger Free Bharat, giving spectators a running tally alongside the regular scoreboard. Building on previous seasons, organisers say more than 2.16 lakh meals had already been distributed by April 2026 against a pledged 2.30 lakh, with the campaign’s reach claimed to have touched over 3 lakh people to date.
August 25 will bring the tournament’s decisive stretch, with two semi-finals in the morning between the top four teams followed by the final that night, alongside celebrity exhibition matches. Organisers have projected more than 45,000 meals for the tournament overall, though the final tally will depend entirely on runs scored through the season, including those from teams already eliminated from title contention.
Participation extends well beyond cricket and film circles. Farmers, chefs and Delhi Police personnel are part of the line-up, with the force’s Sewa Warriors team joining to promote awareness against food waste. An Indian women’s deaf cricket team, a team representing the transgender community, and a Nepal-based side led by chef Ratna Tamang are also expected to feature.
On the entertainment side, actor Rakesh Bedi will captain Superstars 11, with industry figures including Raza Murad, Sunil Pal, Bindu Dara Singh, Shahbaz Khan and Arun Bakshi present at the season’s announcement. Former India cricketer Atul Wasan, who has lent his experience to the initiative, noted that runs in RCL carry a purpose that outlasts the scoreboard, feeding people long after a match ends.
