Srinagar, Aug 12: The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar organised a Tiranga Rally on Wednesday as part of the nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, adding a strong display of national pride and unity to its ongoing Independence Day celebrations.
The rally brought together a broad cross-section of the institute community, with Deans, Heads of Departments and Centres, faculty members, administrative and non-faculty employees, outsourced personnel, students, research scholars, NCC and NSS volunteers and other staff members participating in the programme.
The event was flagged off by In-charge Director Prof. Roohi Naaz in the presence of Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman. Senior academic and administrative officials, including Deans, Heads of Departments and Centres, faculty members, administrative staff and the institute’s Security Officer, joined the rally as participants carried the National Flag through the campus.
NCC and NSS volunteers played an active role in the programme, contributing to the coordinated movement of participants and the patriotic atmosphere across the campus. The rally featured the display of the Tiranga and the raising of patriotic slogans, with participants emphasising themes of national unity, pride and collective responsibility.
The initiative forms part of NIT Srinagar’s wider programme of activities marking India’s 80th Independence Day. Through a series of events involving students, faculty and staff, the institute is seeking to underline the significance of the country’s freedom struggle while encouraging reflection on national unity, constitutional values and the responsibilities associated with citizenship.
The Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign has also provided a platform for institutions and citizens to strengthen their connection with the National Flag. At NIT Srinagar, the campaign has been positioned around encouraging members of the institute community to display the Tiranga with pride and respect, reinforcing its significance as a symbol of national identity and shared belonging.
The institute’s message, “Tiranga – Our Pride, Our Identity, Our Nation,” remained central to the programme. The theme sought to connect the symbolism of the National Flag with the broader values of unity, patriotism and national service.
The participation of students and research scholars alongside faculty and staff also gave the rally an inter-generational character. Such campus initiatives provide educational institutions with an opportunity to take Independence Day celebrations beyond formal ceremonies and engage the wider academic community in activities that highlight national values.
The programme concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to patriotism, unity and national service. The rally also marked another step in NIT Srinagar’s preparations for Independence Day, with the institute continuing to involve its campus community in activities reflecting the significance of the national occasion.
