Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday chaired a high-level meeting to finalise arrangements for the maiden International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK-2026), scheduled from September 7 to 10 in Srinagar and Jammu.
Dulloo called the inaugural edition a benchmark-setting event, to be held annually going forward, and directed departments to map the entire festival process, from guest arrival to closing ceremony, to iron out gaps in coordination. He stressed hospitality for visiting filmmakers and dignitaries, ordering nodal officers at major airports including Delhi and Mumbai, and asked Tourism, Handicrafts and Culture departments to showcase J&K’s heritage through curated tours for guests. He also called for a sustained publicity push across media platforms and directed the Art, Culture & Languages Academy to arrange live cultural performances alongside the festival.
Information Department officials briefed the meeting that around 1,100 film entries from nearly 80 countries have been received, with screenings set across seven screens over four days at SKICC and INOX in Srinagar, Waves Cinema in Jammu, and select sessions in Gulmarg. Opening, closing and award ceremonies will be held at SKICC with live broadcast. The festival will also feature masterclasses, workshops and roundtables, supported by a dedicated IFFJK app for registrations and updates.
The Chief Secretary asked all departments to stay closely coordinated so the maiden edition establishes J&K as a premier film and tourism destination.
