Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess preparations for the inaugural International Film Festival of Jammu & Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026, scheduled to be held from September 7 to 10.
The festival will feature film screenings, masterclasses for emerging filmmakers and cultural performances, creating a platform to promote cinema while showcasing Jammu & Kashmir’s rich cultural heritage.
During the meeting, Abdullah directed that the region’s heritage, cuisine, handicrafts, traditional art forms and iconic tourist destinations be prominently showcased as part of the festival.
He stressed meticulous planning and seamless coordination among departments to ensure the successful conduct of the event. The Chief Minister also emphasised the need to position IFFJK as a significant annual platform capable of attracting filmmakers, artists and cinema enthusiasts from across India and abroad.
The inaugural festival is expected to provide greater visibility to J&K’s creative and cultural landscape while creating opportunities for emerging filmmakers and strengthening the region’s engagement with the wider film industry.
