Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat on Thursday chaired a meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the smooth observance of Eid-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) across the district, ahead of what is expected to be heavy footfall at shrines and mosques over the coming days.
The DC directed concerned departments to ensure adequate water supply, the availability of essential commodities and uninterrupted electricity for devotees visiting Khiram Dargah Shareef, Kabamarg, Reshmool, Aishmuqam, Seer Hamdan and other shrines and mosques across the district, sites that typically see a sharp rise in visitors during the Milad celebrations.
He also called for seamless transport management, adequate medical coverage, sanitation arrangements, security deployment and the positioning of fire and emergency services at critical locations, instructing departments to ensure deputed staff are present and available at all important venues throughout the observance period.
Dr. Bhat stressed the need for close coordination among departments to avoid last-minute gaps in service delivery, and directed special market-checking drives along with inspections of food business establishments during the holy days, a measure aimed at guarding against overpricing and unsafe food practices as demand rises around shrine areas.
He further asked Sub-Divisional Magistrates to monitor preparations within their respective jurisdictions well in advance, so that devotees are provided all necessary facilities for a smooth and dignified observance of the occasion. Officials say the early coordination meeting reflects the administration’s broader approach of getting inter-departmental logistics in place well ahead of major religious gatherings, rather than responding reactively once crowds begin arriving at shrine complexes.
