Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday attended the Quaternary Healthcare & Research Summit 2026 in Srinagar, underscoring the urgent need to bridge the gap in Jammu and Kashmir’s healthcare delivery system, from village-level clinics to advanced quaternary care centres.
Addressing the gathering of health experts, researchers and policymakers, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted India’s significant strides in the healthcare sector under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, pointing to the rapid expansion of healthcare infrastructure, services and research capabilities nationwide as a benchmark for the Union Territory to build upon.
Sinha emphasised the need to further strengthen the healthcare ecosystem across Jammu and Kashmir to ensure accessible, affordable and advanced medical services reach people in every corner of the region, from remote villages to urban centres. He said closing this continuum of care, linking primary health facilities with specialised and quaternary institutions, remained central to the administration’s healthcare vision for the Union Territory.
The summit brought together medical professionals and researchers to deliberate on advancing specialised healthcare and research capabilities in Jammu and Kashmir, reflecting the growing focus on building a more integrated and technologically advanced health system in the region.
