Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued a cautionary advisory warning job seekers about cyber fraudsters who are allegedly exploiting fake recruitment processes, suspicious verification requests and identity-collection tactics to target candidates. Police said scammers may set up seemingly genuine hiring processes before asking candidates to complete unusual verification procedures or share sensitive personal information under the guise of recruitment.
Job seekers have been advised to verify the credentials of recruiters and companies before sharing any personal information and to remain cautious of unusual verification requests during the hiring process. Police further recommended that candidates check official company websites, email domains and the broader digital presence of a recruiting organisation before responding to any job offer.
The advisory also cautioned candidates against instant selection offers and messages designed to create pressure or a sense of urgency to share information or complete verification steps quickly. Police emphasised that genuine job opportunities do not pressure candidates into sharing sensitive personal information without proper verification, urging the public to exercise vigilance while engaging with recruitment processes online.
