Director of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, J&K, Rajesh Kumar Shavan on Sunday chaired a review meeting in Jammu to assess the status of ration distribution to Kashmiri migrants under the Special Relief Ration Scheme. The meeting brought together senior officials from the Relief & Rehabilitation Organization and the FCS&CA department to examine the functioning of the scheme, which provides subsidised ration entitlements to registered Kashmiri migrant families.
The meeting was attended by Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants) Dr. Arvind Karwani, Deputy Director F&R Sham Abrol, Assistant Directors of FCS&CA, senior officers of the Relief & Rehabilitation Organization, representatives of the National Informatics Centre joining virtually, and concerned Area Inspectors and other field functionaries responsible for ground level implementation of the scheme.
Officials held a detailed review of e-KYC completion among migrant beneficiaries, the status of ration distribution across the beneficiary base, the three month advance distribution mechanism, and the lifting and availability of foodgrains needed to sustain uninterrupted supply. The meeting also examined other operational issues connected to the smooth and timely delivery of ration to eligible migrant beneficiaries under the scheme.
Shavan directed concerned officers to ensure timely and hassle free distribution of ration in line with beneficiary entitlements, and asked them to closely monitor the process at the field level to identify and resolve bottlenecks before they affect beneficiaries. NIC authorities were specifically directed to ensure that any issues or technical problems flagged by migrant beneficiaries through the digital system are attended to and redressed in a timely manner, so that beneficiaries face no inconvenience in availing their entitled ration.
Officers of the Relief & Rehabilitation Organization and FCS&CA were further directed to maintain close coordination with one another and ensure that grievances raised by migrant beneficiaries are promptly taken up with the concerned authorities and resolved in a time bound manner. The review reflects continuing administrative focus on strengthening the delivery mechanism for the Special Relief Ration Scheme, which remains a key support system for thousands of Kashmiri migrant families still registered under the relief and rehabilitation framework.
