Jammu and Kashmir Bank has approved around 1,400 posts for recruitment, opening the prospect of a major employment drive for young people across the Union Territory after a prolonged gap in large scale hiring by the institution, a development likely to be welcomed widely amid persistent unemployment concerns among educated youth in the region.
Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee said the bank’s Board had approved the posts for advertisement in the coming weeks, with the recruitment drive focused predominantly on candidates holding Jammu and Kashmir domicile, while around 40 positions will be reserved for residents of Ladakh, ensuring that the exercise extends beyond J&K to cover the bank’s wider operational footprint.
The recruitment exercise is expected to be among J&K Bank’s largest in recent years, arriving at a time when employment remains one of the most pressing concerns for the region’s growing pool of educated job seekers. The detailed advertisement, including the exact number and nature of posts, eligibility criteria and selection process, is expected to be issued in the coming weeks, and is likely to be closely watched by thousands of aspirants across the Union Territory.

Chatterjee reiterated that the recruitment will remain locally focused, providing opportunities to candidates from Jammu and Kashmir while making a separate, dedicated provision for eligible candidates from Ladakh, a structure that acknowledges the distinct administrative and employment landscape of the neighbouring Union Territory since its bifurcation from J&K.
