A Tree Plantation and Honour Ceremony was organised by the Tripti Foundation on September 6 at Ram Krishna Saraswati Vidya Niketan in Kalkaji, New Delhi, highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, tree plantation and increasing green cover in urban areas.

The key highlight of the programme was the felicitation of renowned environmentalist and author Dr. Prashant Sinha, who was conferred the Mata Amrita Devi Smriti Paryavaran Gaurav Samman for his contribution towards environmental awareness and conservation.

During the ceremony, Dr. Sinha was presented with a ceremonial sash (patka) and a certificate of honour in recognition of his efforts to promote environmental consciousness and encourage greater public participation in protecting nature.

The tree plantation drive formed an important part of the event, reinforcing the message that environmental protection requires sustained and collective efforts. The organisers stressed the need for individuals, educational institutions and community organisations to actively participate in initiatives aimed at preserving nature and expanding green spaces.

The programme also drew attention to the growing environmental challenges faced by rapidly developing urban centres such as New Delhi, where increasing green cover remains important for maintaining ecological balance and improving the quality of life.

By combining tree plantation with the recognition of an individual working for environmental protection, the ceremony sought to underline the connection between environmental action and public awareness. The organisers said such initiatives can help inspire communities to take greater responsibility for nature and contribute towards creating a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.
