Jammu and Kashmir Bank held its 88th Annual General Meeting of shareholders at SKICC, Srinagar, under the theme “Trust, Tradition and Transformation,” with the bank reporting its fourth consecutive year of record profitability and announcing that a fresh recruitment drive for posts across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh would be rolled out within days. The AGM was chaired by the bank’s Part-time Non-Executive Chairman S Krishnan in the presence of Managing Director and CEO Amitava Chatterjee and members of the Board, including Financial Commissioner Shailendra Kumar, representing the Jammu and Kashmir Government as majority shareholder and promoter, and Ladakh UT Finance Secretary Tsewang Tharchin, recently recommended for appointment as a Non-Executive Non-Independent Director on the bank’s board.

Addressing shareholders, Chairman Krishnan framed the bank’s institutional identity around continuity and responsibility, describing trust as its inheritance, tradition as its anchor and transformation as its ongoing obligation. He argued that the bank’s progress should ultimately be measured not simply by scale but by its wider contribution to the economic and social transformation of the region, and drew a direct line between the bank’s founding purpose of expanding access to organised finance in the 1930s and its present-day role in enabling a new generation of entrepreneurs, particularly through its participation in Mission YUVA. He also placed on record the Board’s appreciation for the leadership of Chatterjee and his management team, describing employees across the bank as custodians of relationships built over generations.

MD and CEO Amitava Chatterjee detailed the bank’s financial performance, reporting an all-time high net profit of Rs 2,363 crore for the year, up 13.5 per cent year-on-year, and confirming that the bank had crossed Rs 3 trillion in total business by June 2026, a milestone reached in a comparatively short span from the Rs 2 lakh crore mark. He said the results reflected broad-based progress across profitability, asset quality, efficiency and capital strength, and pointed to a 94 per cent surge in digital transactions during the 2025-26 financial year as evidence of growing customer trust in the bank’s digital ecosystem. Chatterjee reaffirmed the bank’s ambition to become the “Bank of Choice,” with continued investment planned in technology, cybersecurity and customer experience.

The bank’s DGM and Company Secretary Mohammad Shafi Mir presented the Auditor’s Report and Secretarial Audit findings, with e-voting results due within two working days of the AGM’s conclusion. The meeting closed with a question-and-answer session in which shareholders raised queries on recruitment and operations, with Chatterjee confirming that a notification for associate and officer-level posts in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh would be issued shortly.
