Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit India this year to attend the BRICS summit, his second visit to the country in less than a year.
According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, President Putin will “certainly” attend the summit. The development comes at a time of increasing global uncertainty and a need to further strengthen cooperation among emerging economies.
India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will host the 18th BRICS summit in September 2026, which will be attended by key world leaders.
The visit will also be of particular significance on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the declaration of strategic partnership between India and Russia, which is seen as a sign of further strengthening of relations between the two countries.
According to experts, this summit will not only give a new dimension to economic and diplomatic cooperation among the BRICS countries but will also further strengthen the role of India and Russia in the changing global landscape, especially in the areas of energy, trade, and security.
