Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday set an example of respect for the national flag by refraining from cutting the tricolour ribbon during a function.

The incident took place at the inauguration of the government’s ‘Know Your Craftsman’ initiative, where Omar Abdullah was invited as the chief guest. When he was asked to cut the ribbon for the inauguration, he noticed that the ribbon resembled the colours of the Indian national flag.

The Chief Minister immediately objected to this and instructed the organisers to untie the ribbon instead of cutting it. Later, he himself helped the organisers untie the ribbon.

Meanwhile, the public circles have demanded strict action against the organizers for commissioning the national flag as a ribbon.
