New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday expressed strong displeasure over the delay in granting sanction to prosecute Kunwar Vijay Shah for his controversial remarks against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and directed the Madhya Pradesh government to take a decision within four weeks.
A Bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi told Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, “Enough is enough,” while hearing the matter.
The court observed that Shah’s remarks were not merely “unfortunate” but “most unfortunate,” adding that there appeared to be no genuine repentance.
Senior advocate Maninder Singh, appearing for Shah, said the minister had issued an apology immediately after the controversy erupted.
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, along with IAF Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, had represented India during media briefings on “Operation Sindoor” alongside Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.
