BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the foreign ministers of various countries on the sidelines of the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi. Those who met included Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira.

Earlier, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, in his opening remarks, said that global peace and security are important pillars of the current global order and recent conflicts have further enhanced the importance of dialogue and diplomacy.

He said that BRICS countries must play a constructive role in addressing challenges such as terrorism, economic uncertainty, trade, technology, climate change and energy and food security. The

theme of the meeting has been “Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, which is inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s “Humanity First” vision.
