DG CRPF Reviews Amarnath Yatra Security Preparedness in Kashmir

Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G.P. Singh, on Tuesday reviewed the security and operational preparedness for the forthcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra during his three-day visit to Kashmir Valley.

The CRPF chief assessed security and logistical arrangements along the pilgrimage route up to the Baltal base camp, stressing the need for a strong and coordinated security grid to ensure the safe conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

During the visit, Singh chaired a high-level meeting attended by senior officers of the CRPF, Jammu and Kashmir Police, civil administration and other security agencies involved in Yatra management. He emphasized enhanced inter-agency coordination and seamless cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure a safe, smooth and incident-free pilgrimage.

At Baltal base camp, the Director General reviewed the existing security framework, access control mechanisms and logistical preparations. Officials briefed him on measures being put in place to strengthen safety arrangements and facilitate effective coordination among the agencies deployed for the Yatra.

As part of his tour, Singh also conducted a detailed inspection of the 118 Battalion headquarters at Gund, where he reviewed infrastructure facilities and ongoing developmental works. Senior officers briefed him on the prevailing security situation and operational activities being undertaken within the battalion’s area of responsibility.

The CRPF chief interacted with officers and jawans, appreciating their commitment and dedication while reaffirming the force leadership’s focus on operational readiness and troop welfare. He also stayed overnight at the battalion headquarters, reflecting the leadership’s emphasis on ground-level engagement.

Singh was accompanied by Special Director General (Operations) Vitul Kumar, Additional Director General J&K Zone Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General Kashmir Operations Sector Vineet Brij Lal, Inspector General Provisioning Directorate Sonal V. Misra, Inspector General Srinagar Sector Pawan Kumar Sharma, and other senior CRPF officers during the visit.
