The Monsoon Session of Parliament is likely to commence from July 20 and continue for about three weeks, though the final schedule is yet to be approved by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA), officials said.

The CCPA is expected to take the final decision on the dates in the coming days. Traditionally, the Monsoon and Winter Sessions comprise around 20 sittings spread over four weeks, although shorter sessions have been held in the past.
The upcoming session will be the first Parliament session after the BJP’s electoral victories in West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, and is expected to witness important legislative business along with political debates.
The session is also likely to see developments over pending decisions by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding the demands of 20 Trinamool Congress MPs and six Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs seeking recognition as separate groups.
Meanwhile, in the Rajya Sabha, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has further strengthened its numbers following the oath-taking of newly elected and re-elected members.
The Monsoon Session is expected to deliberate on several important Bills and national issues during its scheduled sittings.
