The National Investigation Agency has filed a chargesheet against eight people, including Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Shehzad Bhatti, over the IED car bomb blast in the parking area of Baldev Nagar police station in Ambala, Haryana, this past January. Bhatti and seven arrested Indian nationals — identified as Karamjit Singh alias Tony, Akash, Soureb alias Sobi, Raman Kumar, Satyam, Sukhdev Singh alias Sukha and Amarjeet Singh alias Ambi — have been charged before the Special NIA Court in Panchkula under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Explosive Substances Act and the Telecommunication Act. Investigators say Bhatti built an operational module inside India, directing local operatives to scout the police station, arrange explosives and logistics, and eventually park a car packed with gas cylinders and explosive material on the premises, which was filmed for propaganda purposes. The agency said its probe has traced a chain of recruitment, financing, coordination and procurement behind the attack, and that the investigation remains active as it works to establish the full extent of the network.
