Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended a Mulaqaat programme in Pulwama on Monday, organised by the Save Youth Save Future Foundation, and later flagged off a Mega Tiranga Rally from the Sports Stadium in Pulwama as part of the district’s Independence Day observances.
During the programme, Sinha interacted directly with participants and underlined the importance of youth engagement, social responsibility, unity and collective effort in building a peaceful and progressive Jammu and Kashmir. The Mulaqaat initiative, run by the Save Youth Save Future Foundation, has in recent months positioned itself as a platform for interfaith dialogue and community harmony in south Kashmir, bringing together young people, civil society members and administration officials for direct conversations on shared concerns facing the region.
The Lieutenant Governor subsequently flagged off the Mega Tiranga Rally from the Sports Stadium in Pulwama as part of the ongoing Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026, an initiative being observed this year alongside the third phase of nationwide commemorations marking 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram. The rally drew enthusiastic participation from local youth and residents, many of whom carried the Tricolour through the streets of Pulwama while raising patriotic slogans and spreading messages of national unity and devotion to the country.
The event saw the presence of senior civil and police officials, including the Pulwama Deputy Commissioner and the district’s Senior Superintendent of Police, alongside the Deputy Inspector General for south Kashmir and other security officials, reflecting the scale of administrative coordination behind the day’s events. A large number of youth and members of the public also joined the proceedings, underscoring the continuing public engagement around Independence Day activities in south Kashmir this year.
Following the rally, the district administration appreciated the strong public participation and reiterated its commitment to initiatives aimed at strengthening national unity, encouraging youth involvement and deepening community engagement across Pulwama district. Officials noted that programmes combining civic engagement with symbolic patriotic activities, such as the Tiranga rallies being held across Jammu and Kashmir this year, have played a role in fostering a stronger sense of collective participation among the region’s youth population.
