Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, has accused the National Conference led government of avoiding serious issues concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir instead of offering clear answers and solutions on the floor of the House.
Speaking in the Assembly, Sharma said the BJP had strongly raised the concerns of NHM employees, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, GRS staff, technical employees, daily wagers and youth, many of whom are seeking clarity on employment, outsourcing, regularisation and their future prospects, alongside several other pressing issues. He said these concerns cannot be brushed aside, particularly given that thousands of families depend on such employment opportunities for their livelihoods.
The Leader of Opposition also raised the issue of rising power tariffs, saying increased electricity costs are placing additional strain on household budgets and affecting ordinary families across the Union Territory. He said that when genuine public concerns are raised in the Assembly, it is the government’s responsibility to respond with clarity, adding that the Opposition would continue to raise the voice of the people and demand accountability.
Sharma said employees and workers across sectors have repeatedly flagged concerns over service conditions and job security, while youth continue to seek meaningful employment opportunities, and that the government must present a clear roadmap rather than sidestepping these questions. He also referred to the grievances of cooperative bank victims, saying affected depositors continue to await relief and resolution.
Reiterating the BJP’s stance as a responsible Opposition, Sharma said the party would continue to raise matters of employment, livelihoods, rising costs, basic public services and youth opportunities in the Legislative Assembly, and would not remain silent on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said the Opposition’s commitment is to question the government, demand answers and ensure public concerns reach the floor of the House, and affirmed that the BJP would continue discharging its constitutional and democratic responsibility with integrity and courage while seeking accountability from the ruling dispensation on matters concerning the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
