US President Donald Trump abruptly canceled a visit to Pakistan by his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which was scheduled for possible talks on the ongoing tensions with Iran.

According to the White House, the delegation was supposed to leave for Pakistan on Saturday, but Trump took a tough stance, saying that the US has all the options and that if Iran wants to talk, it should take the initiative. His statement clearly indicates that Washington is not in the mood for any immediate compromise.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi also reacted cautiously, saying that it remains to be seen whether the US is really serious about diplomacy. He presented Iran’s position on a framework for ending the war during a meeting with officials in Islamabad.

According to analysts, speculation about behind-the-scenes contacts and possible talks has been going on for the past week, but the cancellation of the visit shows that the differences between the two countries remain deep and the chances of immediate progress are low.

Meanwhile, tensions in the region have further increased, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordering a major offensive against Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, leading to an increase in border clashes.

Defense officials say the United States is not in favor of a hasty agreement, while observers say the policy could further increase uncertainty in the region. Overall, the situation remains uncertain and diplomatic or military developments could take a significant turn in the coming days.
