An Indian national has been killed and more than 60 others injured after drone strikes hit Kuwait International Airport, in the latest escalation between Iran and the United States. Kuwait’s defence ministry described the incident as “criminal Iranian aggression”, while its foreign ministry confirmed that several diplomatic missions sustained damage in the attack.

The strike on Terminal 1 left one person dead and at least 63 injured. The victim has been identified as an Indian national, and India’s Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that several other Indian citizens were also wounded. The deceased was identified in separate reports as Manzoor Ahmed, a 55-year-old tailor from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, who had worked in Kuwait for nearly three decades and was preparing to fly home for his nephew’s wedding.

The IRGC claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for US strikes on the Strait of Hormuz and Qeshm Island. Kuwait’s foreign ministry denied that its territory was used to attack any country and called Iran’s justifications baseless. The incident has cast a grim spotlight on the safety of India’s vast Gulf diaspora — estimated at nearly 9 to 10 million people — as the Iran-US conflict continues to spill into civilian spaces.
