PSA Srinagar Elects District Leadership in Democratic Elections

The Private Schools’ Association (PSA) successfully conducted democratic and transparent elections for its Srinagar District President position on Friday, reflecting the organization’s commitment to strengthening institutional governance and ensuring grassroots participation within Kashmir’s private education sector. The election proceedings, executed under the careful supervision of District Election Commissioner Riyaz Mahmood Masoodi and Election Liaison Officer B.A. Shah, were attended by prominent educationists, civil society members, and senior PSA functionaries, underscoring the significance of the electoral exercise.

Adil Habib was elected as District President of PSA District Srinagar, while Rouf Ahmad secured the position of District Vice President. Riyaz Mahmood Masoodi was elected Treasurer, Parvaiz Ahmad Lone as Organiser, Ms. Rifat Ara as District Coordinator, and G.M. Dar was nominated as Advisor to the executive committee. The gathering included several distinguished education leaders, including Mehboob Hussain, Former Joint Director of the School Education Department and Joint Secretary of JKBOSE; Dr. G.N. Var, NISA Joint Secretary and Chief Patron of PSA; and Bilal Ahmad Bhat, State President of PSA. Addressing the assembly as Chief Guest, Mehboob Hussain emphasized that the newly elected leadership bears the responsibility of preserving the trust and legacy built by the association over years of dedicated service to education in Jammu and Kashmir. He stressed that private education must never be reduced to mere commercial enterprise, but rather must remain committed to nurturing responsible citizens and safeguarding the futures of Kashmir’s children.

Dr. G.N. Var, in his keynote address, congratulated the newly elected body and called upon school leaders to place child-centric education at the heart of every institutional decision. He emphasized that quality learning, ethical leadership, and continuous academic excellence must serve as guiding principles for every educational institution.

PSA State President Bilal Ahmad Bhat highlighted how the successful completion of democratic elections across districts demonstrates the association’s growing institutional strength, maturity, and unity within the private education fraternity.

Newly elected District President Srinagar Adil Habib, in his acceptance remarks, pledged that no deserving child from economically disadvantaged families would be deprived of educational opportunity, declaring that the association’s doors would remain open to all. He committed to working collectively with member schools to address genuine concerns through constructive dialogue and institutional cooperation, while safeguarding school interests and promoting quality, child-centric education across the district.
