Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Thursday convened an Awami Darbar in the Koil area of Pulwama district, reaching out directly to residents to hear their concerns and assess the developmental needs of the region. The public outreach event was attended by Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Shabir Ahmad Kullay, former MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khalil Bandh, senior departmental officers, local representatives, and a large gathering of residents from Koil and surrounding villages.
During the interactive session, people raised a wide range of concerns spanning healthcare infrastructure, schools and educational facilities, road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity availability, and other civic and developmental issues that have long remained unaddressed at the grassroots level.
Minister Itoo listened attentively to each grievance and assured participants that all genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate and timely resolution. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to responsive governance and strengthening service delivery at the grassroots level, stating that public outreach programmes serve as a vital bridge between the administration and the people.
Itoo directed departmental officers present at the event to address priority issues on an urgent basis and ensure prompt follow-up on all public complaints raised during the darbar. She emphasized that the government’s approach under the present administration is one of accountability and accessibility, where public concerns are not filed away but acted upon.
Awami Darbars have become a key tool for the Jammu and Kashmir government in ensuring that the administration reaches citizens at the local level, rather than requiring people to navigate bureaucratic channels in distant offices. The Pulwama session reflects the broader approach of ministers taking governance to the doorstep of citizens in rural and semi-urban areas.
Residents who participated in the event welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the concerns raised during the interaction would be addressed at the earliest.
